Further to last week’s Threat Of the Week we would like to bring the following to the attention of our customers and readers.
In light of the Hacking Team data leak, Microsoft has released a VERY UNUSUAL out of band (i.e. not a ‘Patch Tuesday’) fix: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/security/MS15-078.
There is a good article about it here: http://searchsecurity.techtarget.com/news/4500250301/Microsoft-releases-out-of-band-patch-for-Windows-zero-day
Dear customers and colleagues. This patch does not apply to Windows Server 2003, which will not be protected, which is now vulnerable. It is being actively exploited. Maybe Microsoft will be forced to patch the now deprecated, out of support Operating System, maybe not.
This is a very big deal if you are running 2003 servers; it also requires a reboot of non-deprecated Operating Systems, which is tricky.
